How to apply for a Zamfara scholarship
Five steps, from creating an account to tracking a decision. Each one below says what to have ready before you start, so you are not stopped partway through.
You can complete steps 1 and 2 today. The online screens for steps 3 to 5 described below are not live yet.
The five steps
-
01
Create an account
Register with your full name, an email address you can access, and a password. This takes a minute and does not ask for any documents yet.
Have ready: your full name and a working email address.
-
02
Confirm your email with the six-digit code
A six-digit code is sent to your email as soon as you register. Enter it to confirm your address. It expires after 10 minutes; if it lapses, you can request a new one.
Have ready: access to the inbox for the email address you registered with.
-
03
Complete the form
This step will cover your personal details, your Local Government Area of origin, and your institution and course of study. It will also ask for your bank name, account number and BVN (Bank Verification Number), so an award can be paid to you. It will not be possible to complete without these three bank details, so have them ready before you start.
Have ready: your date of birth, address and LGA of origin, your institution, course and year of entry, and your bank name, account number and BVN.
-
04
Upload your documents
What you will need to upload depends on which scholarship type you are applying for. Local, international and loan awards do not ask for the same papers. Check the list on your scholarship type's own page now, since it is a starting guide the Board has not yet finally confirmed, and gather your documents ahead of the upload step opening.
Have ready: scans or clear photographs of the documents listed for your scholarship type.
-
05
Track your status
Once submitted, an application moves through review: submitted, under review, shortlisted, and then approved or not successful. You will be able to sign in to see where yours stands once this screen is live.
Have ready: nothing new. Sign back in with the account you created in step one.
Questions students ask
How long do I have to enter the verification code?
Ten minutes from when it is sent. If it expires, you can request a new one from the same page.
What if I do not have my bank account details yet?
The form requires your bank name, account number and BVN before it can be completed. If you do not already have an account, open one before you start the form.
Do all scholarship types ask for the same documents?
No. Local, international and loan awards each list their own required documents on their own scholarship type page. Check the one you are applying for before you gather your papers.
Can I start an application before the window opens?
No. You can only complete the form, upload documents and submit while your scholarship type's application window is open. The scholarships page always shows whether it is open now.
Can I change my application after I submit it?
You can withdraw a submitted application and return it to draft to make changes, as long as the Board has not yet decided it.
Who can see my bank account number and BVN?
They are encrypted and hidden from ordinary view. Only finance staff who process awards can reveal them, and doing so is recorded.
